Safeguard Your Park

Perry Park remains at risk

Thanks to a successful community campaign, this vital green space in north Birmingham remains open to the public.

The park contains the beautiful Perry Reservoir which is home to dozens of coots, mallards, moorhens and swans, as well as occasional visitors including tufted ducks, goosanders, and egrets.

Alexander Stadium is within the park - in 2022 it was a host venue for the Commonwealth Games.

Following our major community campaign, the council reinstated the children’s play area which had been torn down to make way for the Commonwealth Games - it took well over two years of campaigning, but the new play area is much improved and very popular.

The park is bordered by other popular features - the historic Tame Valley Canal to the north, the thriving Walsall Road Allotments to the south, and the very active Birmingham BMX Club and Aston Manor Cricket Club both to the east.

But we still need your help - despite repeated requests, Birmingham City Council has failed to provide an adequate response to the lack of basic security measures, which led to c.£30,000 criminal damage to the park in December 2025.

Park users, local residents, and members of local community groups are calling on the council to take action before more (or worse) damage occurs.
